Chris Tomlin, award winning Christian singer, songwriter, and musician was raised in Grand Saline. It was here he found his love of music and his faith in God., Chris grew up listening to country music and learned to play guitar from his Dad. He is a graduate of Grand Saline High School, Tyler Junior College and Texas A&M University.
Chris has earned a Grammy Award, two Billboard Music Awards, twenty three Dove Awards, a platinum album, and four gold albums. He has sold over seven million records. He is among the most well-known and influential artists in contemporary Christian music.

Wiley Post, one of the world's greatest aviators was born on November 22, 1896 in the community of Corinth in Van Zandt County. Post was the first person to fly solo around the world. He invented the first full-pressure flight suit, pioneered high altitude flying and discovered jet streams.
On September 16, 1996, Post was honored in a ceremony to unveil the first historical marker in the state.
